Alligator leather

Alligator is not crocodile, and the house keeps them apart. Every skin is farm-raised and fully documented, each piece is made by hand, and no two hides carry the same pattern.

How the sourcing works, and what we do not claim

35 pieces

Alligator and crocodile get used as though they were one word. They are not. Alligator tiles are rounder and more regular through the belly, and the scales carry no sensory pit at the edge, which crocodile scales do. Side by side the difference is obvious. Apart, it takes knowing what to look for.

We keep them separate for that reason, and label every piece by the animal it came from rather than by the word that sells better. Alligator here is farmed and CITES certified. It takes a polish and holds it, which is why most of the alligator on the shelf is footwear rather than soft bags. Each pair is cut from a panel chosen for how the tiles run over the toe, so no two are marked the same way.
