Spoleto Alligator Clutch Wallet
Large enough to take a phone as well as cards, notes and folded papers, at 22 by 13 by 4 centimetres. It carries flat in the hand, or on the wrist strap, which unclips at the ring.
Alligator throughout, in square tiles that stay square across the front panel and over the flap pocket. Polished, so the edge of every tile shows, and set out so the rows run down the length of the case.
Black or brown, with steel-coloured hardware. Farm-raised and CITES-documented.

The scales are horn rather than hide, and they are what needs looking after. Keep the piece out of direct sun and away from radiators, which dry the tiles until their edges lift.
Wipe it with a soft dry cloth, working along the tiles rather than across them. If it is caught in rain, blot it and let it dry away from heat. Never dry it in front of a fire or with a hairdryer.
Use a conditioner made for exotic leather, sparingly, two or three times a year. Wax polish builds up in the seams between tiles and dulls them, so leave it alone.
Store it in its dust bag with nothing resting on it. Bring it to us before you attempt a repair.
