Ostrich leather

Genuine ostrich, never a print. Every skin is farm-raised and fully documented, each piece is made by hand, and the quill marks fall differently on every hide.

How the sourcing works, and what we do not claim

18 pieces

Ostrich is the skin people recognise by touch before sight. The quill follicles leave raised bumps across the crown of the hide, and the skin around them stays unusually soft, softer than calf of the same weight. Only part of a hide carries the bumps. The rest is smooth, and both parts get used, which is why one ostrich piece can look like two materials at once.

Every ostrich skin here is farmed and CITES certified. The quill pattern is never the same twice, so a panel is chosen for where the crown will sit: across the vamp of a shoe, or centred on the face of a bag. Ostrich also wears in rather than out. It takes the shape of what it covers and keeps it, which suits boots better than almost any other exotic skin.
