Portofino Crocodile Running Loafer
A penny loafer cut from crocodile and set on a running sole. The upper is built the way a loafer is built, an apron seam around the toe and a slotted keeper across the vamp, and then it is dropped onto a moulded midsole with a lugged rubber outsole. That last part is what changes how it wears.
Belly tiles run square and wide across the vamp and narrow towards the throat, where the skin turns. The keeper strap is cut from the same hide as the vamp it crosses, so the tiles carry through it rather than starting again. Punched brogueing runs along the heel counter and is the only decoration on the shoe.
The brown is worked to a patina that sits dark in the tile channels and lifts across their faces, and it carries a tan heel block. Black and white are finished flat, both with the heel block in black. On all three the midsole is kept pale so the lugged outsole reads as a separate piece rather than as part of the shoe.
Leather lining, cushioned leather insole, lugged rubber outsole. Made to order in EU 38 to 44. No two pairs carry the same tile pattern, because no two hides do.

Crocodile tiles have edges, and the edges are where a shoe wears first. Wipe along the rows with a soft dry cloth rather than across them, so nothing catches under a tile and lifts it.
Keep the pair out of direct sun and away from radiators, which dry the tiles until their edges stand proud. If it is caught in rain, blot it and let it dry at room temperature, never on a heat source, then condition it lightly with a product made for exotic skin.
The rubber outsole takes the ground so the upper does not, but the crease across the vamp is still where a loafer ages. A shoe tree between wears keeps that crease shallow, and a day of rest between wearings does more for a pair than anything you can apply to it.

How to measure
In order to select the correct shoe size, we recommend you measure your feet using the following guidelines.
Wear the kind of socks or tights you would normally wear with this type of shoe.
Stand up straight on a flat surface with your heel against a wall. If necessary, ask someone else to help you take the measurements.
Measure from the base of your heel, keeping it pressed against the wall, to the tip of your longest toe.
Always measure both feet and use your longest foot as your benchmark.
